Boat of Garten Woodlands

The Boat woods are highly valued by the community and are well used by locals and visitors alike with people enjoying a range of activities including walking, cycling and bird watching. The local woodland is also an important area for capercaillie, crested tits and red squirrels.

Our Woodlands project came out of a desire by members of the community to improve the woodland natural heritage value as both a recreational resource and a habitat for wildlife. Building on the suggestions made at a meeting last year, the community organised a CaperWatch with RSPB and is now working with Seafield Estates and the Cairngorms National Park Authority (CNPA) to develop strategies to sustain and maintain the woodlands.
