The Heating System

The Heating system is based on a large ground source loop under the car park – some x 50m long trenches with the ground loop doubled up at 1.8 and 1.2 metre depths. This is linked via a large circulating pump into a 35 KW Heat Pump with high and low temperature heat exchangers and subsequently either through further circulating pumps directly into the Underfloor Heating or into a Hygienik TM Buffer tank (also supplied by IDM) into the Hot water system. The entire design was by Invisible Heating Systems and keeps the Hall at about 19° to 20° C via a programmable computer display. The solar panelling is a fairly conventional system linked into the buffer tank.

Other details

The underfloor heating is laid on a Duraflo TM screed, with the flooring above it being a mixture of tiles, carpet, and Marmoleum ® except in the Main Hall where it is a Junckers Sports Floor. The building is conventionally insulated and has NorDan windows and doors except for the skylights which are produced by  Velux® . The Gents have water-less urinals made by Armitage Shanks and sold under the Aridia brand.
