Scotland”s Millennium Garden is located on the B970 which runs parallel to the River Spey between Coylumbridge and Boat of Garten. From the south turn off on the Cairngorm - Loch Morlich road before actually entering Aviemore, alternatively if coming from the north drive through Boat of Garten, cross the River Spey [try not to run over any salmon] and turn right when you see the road sign for the Gardens. Any problems just ask someone.
This Botanic Garden has been laid out mainly in Bio-Geographic areas based entirely on hardy plant species found in the Northern Hemisphere and includes a large Japanese Garden, Korean, Chinese and Himalayan sections, extensive Rockeries, Heather beds and nearly completed is a Scottish Alpine Rockery and a St. Andrews Garden in which all the plants are either blue of white in commemoration of the world”s oldest national flag, the St. Andrews Cross.
There are good and extensive collections of Primulas - more than 50 species.
Also to be seen for the first time is our small herd of White Highland Cattle and an interesting nesting colony of Sand Martins. Access to much of the Garden's 10 acres is suitable for people of most abilities.
