The Abernethy Waters

Fishing on the Spey This is our main stretch of water consisting of 15 named pools on over 6 miles (10 Km) of double bank fishing on the famous River Spey for salmon, sea trout and brown trout and it is available to visitors staying in Boat of Garten.

This stretch is available to all visitors staying in Boat of Garten, Nethybridge, Dulnain Bridge and Carr-Bridge. The methods allowed are fly, spinning or worm fishing, with certain stretches reserved for fly only when the river reaches a certain level. Each year well in excess of 1100 sea trout are taken from these waters.

The Spey offers some of the finest sea trout fishing in the world, and is unaffected by the problems in other areas of Britain.

Visitor tickets are available from the Boat of Garten Post Office during opening hours (no tickets before 8AM).

Fishing for the disabled We have special platforms for wheelchair users with a car park for their exclusive use only 50 yards away.

There is water to suit all types of fishing. From the fast water of the Millers Pool and Nethy Pool, ideal for the fly, to the slower running fish holding pools such as Frankies Corner and the Lower Railway Pool.
