Grand Opening - 18th August 2007
Boat of Garten’s new community hall opened its doors for the first time on Saturday 18th August. Angus Gordon, former Highland Councillor, officially opened the new facility and welcome residents and guests into the new building at 2.30pm. Thereafter there was a short programme of entertainment after which everyone had the opportunity to look around at their leisure.
Update March 2007

The mild weather in November allowed the building to progress nicely over November and December. The framework seemed to take no time at all and soon we had a building which was starting to resemble the plans.
Press Release 22 August 2006
Boat of Garten’s Community Hall Company announced today that the construction of the new hall on land adjacent to the playing field will commence as early as the beginning of September. The construction contract has been awarded to Ewen Gillies Builders of Inverness who will take over the site on Monday 28th August. The building should be complete within nine months.
Update May 2006
Highland 2007 promises to be a special year for the Highlands of Scotland. Thousands of events and activities will take place celebrating Highland culture in villages, towns and cities across the Highlands and beyond. It will be an exciting time to be in the Highlands – and we’re not going to miss out! Quite apart from a programme of events planned by our Community Support Worker Louise Wyllie and by Anna Barton on behalf of the Community Company, we also plan to be opening the doors of our new Community Hall during the summer months of 2007 which will be a historic occasion for our wee village. With that in mind we applied to Highland 2007 for financial assistance and we’ve just heard that we were successful. So it’s full steam ahead!
Full Steam Ahead!
The Scottish Executive announced that Boat of Garten Community Hall’s application for funding from the European Regional Development Fund was successful. An award of £278,836 means that there is only £80,000 still to raise to achieve our target and with several outstanding applications awaiting decisions, members of the Community Hall can feel confident that the project can finally begin.
A step closer to securing the new Hall!
A Highland village is now able to bid for the final major piece of funding needed for their new community hall thanks to a vital £100,000 grant from the Local Enterprise Company.
The proposed new hall will replace the old and cramped building and become the heart of the picturesque Strathspey village. The total project cost will be over £800,000.
